What volume means on a bonding curve
Curve Volume Lab takes apart the numbers on a launchpad token page. A volume figure on a bonding curve is the sum of swaps against a reserve held by a program, not trade against a pool of paired liquidity, and that difference changes how you should read almost everything else on the page.
We work stage by stage: what exists at mint, what the first buys do to the quote, what fills the curve, and what breaks the moment liquidity migrates to an AMM.

A launch, in four stages
Every number on a token page means something different depending on which stage produced it. The same volume figure is a discovery signal in stage two and a warning sign in stage four.
Mint and metadata
The token exists, the curve is seeded, and nothing has traded yet. Everything visible at this point is configuration, not market data.

The method is boring on purpose. It is also the reason you can check anything published here.
Mechanism first
Every note starts from the program behaviour that produces the number, not from the number itself. If we cannot describe the mechanism, we do not publish the interpretation.
Observed against inferred
Anything readable from chain state or a public explorer is described as observed. Anything reconstructed from patterns is described as inferred, in those words, in the sentence itself.
Labelled arithmetic
Worked examples use round numbers chosen to make the arithmetic legible. They are labelled illustrative. They are not measurements of any real token and should never be quoted as such.
Out of scope
No price targets, no token recommendations, no claims about specific launches or teams, no performance figures for any tool, and no engagement with anything that requires a private key.
Independent
Curve Volume Lab has no affiliation with Pump.fun or any launchpad. Where a commercial product is named, the note says plainly what the relationship is and what the product actually does.
Corrections
Protocol parameters change. When a note is wrong or a mechanism has moved, the note is corrected and the correction is described rather than quietly overwritten.
